A domain alias is a domain that points to the same website as the primary domain. For example, if you have a domain called example.com, you could create a domain alias called example2.com. Both domains would point to the same website.

To create a domain alias in Plesk Obsidian, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Plesk control panel.

  2. Click Websites & Domains.

  3. Click Add Domain Alias.

  4. In the Domain name field, enter the name of the domain alias you want to create.

  5. In the Primary domain field, select the domain that the alias will point to. Uncheck or check the following checkboxes based on your requirements:
    • Synchronize DNS zone with the primary domain
    • Mail service
    • Web service
    • Redirect with the HTTP 301 code
  1. Click Create.

Plesk will create the domain alias and add it to your list of domains.

Here are some additional things to keep in mind when creating a domain alias:

  • You can only create a domain alias for a domain that you already own.
  • You cannot create a domain alias called example.com for a primary domain of www.example.com.
  • You can create multiple domain aliases for the same primary domain.
  • To ensure your domain name works you must update the domain with the DNS servers you were provided or if using an external DNS Provider, you'll need to point the domain name to your issued IP Address.
