How to manage security roles in DotNetNuke (DNN) Print

  • 40

Legacy Product Notice: DotNetNuke (DNN) still runs on our Windows + IIS infrastructure — we support it technically. We no longer market a dedicated DNN hosting product; for new projects, see our ASP.NET / .NET hosting plans which fully support DNN deployments.

To manage security roles in DotNetNuke (DNN), follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the DotNetNuke (DNN) admin area.
  2. Click on the "Roles" icon.
  3. Click on "Add New Role" to create a new role.
  4. Enter the role name and description, and check the "Public Role" box if you want users to be able to subscribe and unsubscribe to the role.
  5. Click "Update" to save the new role.
  6. Scroll over "Admin" and click "User Accounts".
  7. Click on the "Manage Roles" icon.
  8. Choose the new role from the list.
  9. Click "Add Role to User".
  10. Choose the user you want to assign to the role.
  11. Click "Update" to save the changes.

That's it! You have successfully added a new security role to an existing DNN user.
