Legacy Product Notice: DotNetNuke (DNN) still runs on our Windows + IIS infrastructure — we support it technically. We no longer market a dedicated DNN hosting product; for new projects, see our ASP.NET / .NET hosting plans which fully support DNN deployments.
To manage security roles in DotNetNuke (DNN), follow these steps:
- Log in to the DotNetNuke (DNN) admin area.
- Click on the "Roles" icon.
- Click on "Add New Role" to create a new role.
- Enter the role name and description, and check the "Public Role" box if you want users to be able to subscribe and unsubscribe to the role.
- Click "Update" to save the new role.
- Scroll over "Admin" and click "User Accounts".
- Click on the "Manage Roles" icon.
- Choose the new role from the list.
- Click "Add Role to User".
- Choose the user you want to assign to the role.
- Click "Update" to save the changes.
That's it! You have successfully added a new security role to an existing DNN user.
