Legacy Product Notice: This article references our former Linux-based Managed WordPress Hosting product, which we have since retired. WordPress still runs on our current Windows + IIS hosting plans via PHP-on-IIS, but the dedicated Managed WordPress tier and Linux platform are no longer available. For current options, see our hosting plans.
While Windows Servers can run WordPress websites with FastCGI for PHP and OPCache, there is a notable difference in performance compared to running WordPress on Linux. Linux has a superior compatibility with PHP and MySQL, resulting in faster performance for WordPress websites on Linux with similar specifications.
On the other hand, if you are using development tools such as ASP.NET, ASP (Active Server Pages), .NET framework, .NET Core, Visual Studio, and SQL databases, our Windows hosting platform may be a more suitable choice for your needs. However, for WordPress sites, we recommend our Linux and Managed WordPress hosting platforms for optimal performance.
