Get your domain's EPP / authorization code — self-service, no ticket required
An EPP code (also called an authorization code, auth code, or transfer code) is essentially a password for your domain name. Your new registrar needs it to transfer a domain away from Adaptive Web Hosting. For most domains you can retrieve the code yourself in a few clicks from your client area — no support ticket needed.
How to get your EPP code
Step 1 — Sign in to your client area
Go to cp.adaptivewebhosting.com and log in with your Adaptive Web Hosting credentials.
Step 2 — Open the domain you want to transfer
From the top menu, click Domains → My Domains. Click anywhere on the row for the domain you want to transfer to open its Domain Management page.
Step 3 — Click "Get EPP Code"
On the left of the Domain Management page you will see the Manage panel. Click Get EPP Code. Your domain's EPP / authorization code is shown on the next screen — copy it exactly as displayed (codes are case-sensitive and often contain symbols, with no leading or trailing spaces).
Step 4 — Give the code to your new registrar
Paste the EPP code into the transfer request at your new (gaining) registrar. Most transfers complete within 5–7 days once the code is accepted and you approve the transfer confirmation emails.
Before you transfer — two quick checks
- Unlock the domain. In the same Manage panel, open Registrar Lock and make sure it is disabled. A locked domain cannot be transferred out.
- Make sure your contact email is current. Transfer confirmation emails are sent to the administrative contact in your domain's WHOIS record. Check it under Manage → Domain Contacts and update it if needed. If you have ID Protection / WHOIS privacy enabled, you may need to disable it temporarily so you can receive the transfer emails.
Country-code domains such as .es — no EPP code
Some country-code domains (ccTLDs) do not use an EPP / authorization code at all. .es is the most common example. For these, the Get EPP Code page will tell you that no code is required instead of showing one — this is normal and not a fault with your domain.
A few other country-code extensions also replace the EPP code with their own transfer method — an email approval, or a registry-specific process. You never have to guess which applies: if the Get EPP Code page shows guidance instead of a code, your domain transfers a different way, and you can open a support ticket any time and we will walk you through the exact steps for that extension.
To transfer a .es domain away from us:
- Start the transfer for your domain at your new (gaining) registrar.
- The .es registry then emails an approval link directly to the administrative contact listed in your domain's WHOIS record.
- Click the approve link in that email within 10 days. If it is not approved within 10 days, the request is automatically cancelled and the domain stays with us.
There is no code to copy and nothing to unlock for a .es domain — once you approve the registry's email, the transfer completes. Make sure your administrative contact email is one you can access, and check your spam / junk folder if you do not see the approval email shortly after starting the transfer.
I do not see the "Get EPP Code" option
The Get EPP Code link appears only when all of the following are true:
- The domain is registered through Adaptive Web Hosting (not just hosted with us). Domains registered elsewhere are managed at whichever registrar holds the registration.
- The domain status is Active. Expired or pending domains need to be renewed or restored first.
- The domain uses a TLD that issues EPP codes. Country-code domains such as .es that do not use one (see above) will show guidance instead of a code.
The code is not being accepted by my new registrar
- Copy the code again, exactly — including any symbols, with no leading or trailing spaces.
- Confirm the domain is unlocked under Manage → Registrar Lock.
- Always use the most recent code shown on the Get EPP Code page.
- If it still fails, open a support ticket with the domain name and the exact error your new registrar reports, and we will help.
