Sitejet on Windows Hosting
Compatibility
- Sitejet works on Windows Server with Plesk (including Windows Server 2022)
- Compatible with ASP.NET hosting environments
- Works alongside MSSQL databases
How Sitejet Works on Windows
- Sitejet generates static HTML/CSS/JS files, not ASP.NET code
- Published sites do not require .NET framework to run
- IIS serves Sitejet content as static files
- SSL/TLS configuration follows standard Windows Plesk procedures
Important Considerations
Coexistence with ASP.NET Applications
- Sitejet replaces document root content when published
- Existing ASP.NET applications in the same domain will be overwritten
- For hybrid sites, consider using subdomains (e.g., app.yourdomain.com for ASP.NET, www.yourdomain.com for Sitejet)
File Permissions
- Sitejet requires write access to the document root
- If publishing fails with permission errors, check IIS permissions
- Verify the .well-known directory has proper permissions
Windows-Specific Troubleshooting
- Permission denied errors: Check IIS application pool identity has write access
- Publishing failures: Verify no file locks exist on document root files
- SSL issues: Ensure certificate is bound in IIS site bindings
Best Practices for Windows Hosting
- Keep Sitejet websites on dedicated domains/subdomains
- Do not mix Sitejet with ASP.NET applications on the same document root
- Always backup before publishing
- Use Lets Encrypt for SSL certificates
